Real Pioneers: Ray of hope

Md Tanveer
As the nation celebrated Akshaya Tritiya last month, a festival associated with mass child weddings, many activists renewed their calls against child marriage.

“Raise your voice against child marriage on #AkshayTritiya, an auspicious day for Hindu marriage in India,” UNICEF India said on Twitter.

According to UNICEF, 47% of girls are married by 18 years of age, and 18% are married by 15 years of age. These marriages are often performed without the consent of the girls involved in the marriage. Indian law has made child marriage illegal, but it is still widely practiced across the nation.

Despite of campaigns like “Apni Beti, Apna Dhan which was a pineer against the practices of child marriage in early 90’s in the state of Haryana. Apni Beti, Apna Dhan one of India's first conditional cash transfer programs dedicated to delaying young marriages across the nation.

Is IDRF funding Terrorism in India?

IDRF SPONSORED TERRORISM
Mohamed Tanveer

A new phobia has risen among not only India but everyone all over the globe, its terrorophobia. After the malegaun I & II, Hyderabad Makkah masjid, Ajmer dargah, Mumbai serial and Samjauta blasts (the list is big) every India lives amidst of the fear of any possible terrorist activity. None can deny the fact that the terrorist activities or say bomb blast came in to panorama only after the ties of India with Israel got closer. In recent period the Indian investigating agencies has unearthed the fact that hindutva ideological terror wings are behind the terrorist activies in India.

UPA, Israel affairs - Ignominy of democratic values

UPA government recently signed an extradition treaty and a pact on the transfer of sentenced prisoners with Israel to forge anti-terror activity is a mock because Israel is by itself a fountain head of terrorism globally.
And the decision to open a consulate in Bangalore, India's IT hub will we treat to the nation. Israel opened its Embassy in Delhi in February 1992 and India opened its Embassy in Tel Aviv on 15 May 1992. All major terror activities including bomb blast happened only after 1992. Is this a coincidental or accidental it has to be unveiled?

Chaturbhujsthan brothel situated in Bihar state is close to the Nepalese border. For centuries, it has been a center for sex trade with human trafficking and forced prostitution. The center is home to about 10,000 women and children all virtually employed, directly or indirectly, in the flesh trade. The whole area is named after the Chaturbhujsthan temple which is located in its inner precincts, and which is essentially one large brothel.

Gandhi’s Hero

Mohamed Tanveer

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, India's Father of the Nation is famous for his freedom struggle, and as one who worked tirelessly to make India independent of British rule. His teaching was based on Ahimsa (non-violence), Satyagraha (truth) and Sneha (love).

Mahatama Gandhi with Cap
Gandhi lived a simple life, did not hold a position of power in the government, and had no worldly possessions. He also used to clean streets and collect refuse in order to punish himself for the injustice of the caste system as practiced by most people in India. Only untouchables did this kind of work.

A living Gandhi from the North east

Irom SharmilaIrom Sharmila and her struggle with Conscience.

Mohammed Tanveer Iqbal

A couple of months back during my discussion with my London based friend who is an editor of a Tamil news portal, I asked him 'why don't you publish something on Irom Sharmila'. Without delay instantly he paused me 'who is she?' I told him she is a living Gandhi from North Eastern part of India and is fasting for more than a decade to repeal controversial Armed Force (Special Powers) act 1958. It was no wonder because being a Tamilian that to a NRI he has less chance of knowing Irom. But it's most pathetic because a majority of fellow Indian excluding North East India is unaware of her, would not have probably heard of her.
